Gyms and health clubs
In Barcelona there are several gyms, some smaller, some belonging to big chains. Below we list some of our favourite gyms in Barcelona.
Fitness First (www.fitnessfirst.es)
is an international chain with gyms
all over the world, including Spain.
In Barcelona there  are
two Fitness First Gyms: Fitness First
La Maquinista, in Paseo de Potosì
2 and Fitness First Glorias, in Avenida
Diagonal 208, in the Centro Comercial
Glories.
Holmes Place (www.holmesplace.es
) – this is another big international
gyms chain. In Barcelona there are two
Holmes Place gyms: one in Balmes (Calle
balmes 44-46), which has swimming
pool, sauna, jacuzzi, in addition
to fitness machinery and classes, and
the other one in Urquinaona (Calle Ausiàs
Marc9-11) with the same facilities as
the first one.
DIR (www.dir.cat)
- is a Catalan chain of gymnasiums,
which has 13 gyms in total, 12 of which
in Barcelona and 1 in Sant Cugat. All
the DIR clubs have a range of different
facilities and, by joining one of them,
according to the type of membership
you choose, you will be able to attend
the other centres as well.
Fundaciò Claror (www.claror.cat)
is a foundation founded by Barcelona
City Council (Ayuntamiento), this is
why it offers very good value for money,
with very good facilities for really
affordable prices. There are three Claror
gyms: Claror l’Esportiu in Calle
Sardenya 333, in Sagrada Familia; Sagrada
Familia Poliesportiu in Calle Cartagena
231; Marítim Esport Talassa in
Passeig Marítim 33. All of them
have sauna, jacuzzi, steam rooms, swimming
pool, various classes and other facilities
such as basketball courts. Claror centres
in Barcelona also offer massage, physiotherapy
and medical facilities.
Piscines Picornell (www.picornell.cat)
is a swimming pool, located in the Montjuic
Park, Barcelona and it was built as
part of the 1992 Olympics sport facilities.
Its address is Av. de l'Estadi 30-38,
tel. 934 234 041. In addition to the
swimming pools, there are fitness classes,
machinery and physiotherapy facilities.
