What is a Boutique Hotel or accommodation
The whole concept of Boutique Hotels is quite new and many people still get confused or wonder what exactly a Boutique hotel, Boutique accommodation or Boutique Guest House is.
The whole idea has come recently to Europe from North America and the definition is a Unique accommodation which offers luxury. The words Hip, Trendy, Stylish and unique are words which help to define this concept.
There is no one definite building which fits this idea and the whole point in effect is that Boutique accommodation refers to a place which is normally independently owned and offers luxury stays.
The accommodation can come in the form of a:
- Guest House
- Hotel
- B&B
The confusion with Boutique accommodation for many people is that the idea of a B&B is normally a relatively cheap and inexpensive form of accommodation whereby Boutique B&Bs tend to be relatively expensive, hence a contradiction of sorts. A guest house offers similar connotations in that one associates budget costs with a guest house so 'Boutique Guest House' seems confusing. Boutique does mean that it is a higher level in terms of costs and luxury and overall Boutique style accommodation is worth trying if your budget permits.
