Barcelona areas: Las Ramblas barrios

The Las Ramblas barrios (area) is the centre of the tourist life in Barcelona with Las Ramblas excellent for a number of reasons. Las Ramblas is:

• Within a very easy walk to the beaches.
• Next to the marina
• Excellent for transportation with the tourist bus and the metro both available from this area.
• Plenty of tourist bars and restaurants if you are not so hot on the Catalan and Spanish languages.
• There are a lot of stalls and street entertainers lining the the long main street in las Ramblas.

Las Ramblas barrios is not everyone's cup of tea particularly because it can get very crowded and is very busy a lot of the time. If you want pace and quiet when you sleep then this area is maybe not the best bet. An area such as Montjuic for example can be quieter. This area though quite simply is great for getting around and seeing a lot in Barcelona.
