Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter (El Barri Gòtic) is often considered the heart of the city and, as a tourist, includes some of the “must-sees” of Barcelona. The famous La Rambla runs the length of the Barrio Gotico, stretching from Plaza Catalunya to the monument of Christopher Columbus. Popular destinations within Barrio Gotico include La Boqueria, an enormous, open-air market, Catedral de la Seu, and the Frederic Marès Museum.
The Barri Gotic area is also an easy walk to the beach and to the marina and is full of side streets which are worth exploring. The Gothic Quarter is full of unique boutiques and 
stores and is one of the best parts of Barcelona for independent shops and unusual and unique gifts.
