Best Holiday Apartment Rentals Areas
Thousands of tourists flock to Barcelona each year and to satisfy this demand. literally several dozen apartment agencies and hundreds of private apartment owners make rooms available for tourist to stay in all areas of the city. Hotels, youth hostels, camp sites, boutique hotels and pensions make up the rest of the accommodation market and thus choosing the best place to stay acan be confusing when visiting Barcelona. The first decision I would recommend to make is to decide what part of the city you are interested to stay in. Below we take a look at the main and best areas of Barcelona for tourist accommodation.
Eixample is situated in the heart of modern Barcelona and the area tends to have a wide availability in terms of holiday apartment rentals for tourists use. Most of the apartments for rent in this area have been built in a modern architectural style and have been outfitted with all the required amenities. Staying in one of the accommodation options here means access to several high end shopping boutiques and tourist attractions within walking distance.
If you are looking to explore the nightlife in Barcelona, one of your best options is to choose the Gracia area of the city for your rental accommodation. Gracia has plenty of pubs, bars and discos that play host to a variety of music and dance cultures. Travellers interested in Spain’s unique architecture are also advised to book an apartment in this region, as most of these apartments come with a view of the whimsical Gaudi creations. Gracia is a great overall option and perhaps my favourite given that it is central and slightly less wild than Las Ramblas.
Rent an apartment in Las Ramblas if you want to see the Gothic Quarter and medieval buildings of Barcelona. This area incorporates the metro stops of Catalunya, Jaume I and Liceu (all 3 are the breadth of the main street La Rambla) and if you stay in this area you will be within walkig distance of the marina and not too far from the main beach. This neighbourhood also houses many bistros and small cafes that provide inexpensive fare for visitors on a tight budget. The only thing to be aware of from a negative point of view is that la Rambla is a haven for pickpockets and also one of the most expensive areas because it is in the hub of the tourist area.
If you want a holiday or vacation rental that combines old world charm and modern conveniences should rent an apartment in Port Vell or the ‘Old Port’ area in La Barceloneta. Surrounded by the Mediterranean waters, Port Vell was once an active port during the peak of the Roman Empire. Today, the region has become a popular accommodation offering for tourists as the vacation apartment rentals in La Barceloneta allow guests easy access to the region’s IMAX theatres and mall complexes located close by.
Montjuic boasts scenic Spanish villages, museums and a vast park and is a great location for fairly affordable apartment rentals. This area is accessible by bus, cable car and by car and has many apartments for rent, most of which you can expect to be equipped with wireless internet and all the latest amenities. Renting an apartment in this area means you can enjoy a panoramic view of Barcelona’s city and harbour. Although more out of the way, Montjuic is really a great choice if you want somewhere quiier in the evenings when loking to relax i.e. if you want a peaceful base in the evenings.
